We have purchased a 5MW solar project located in New South Wales from Canigou Australian Solar Energy, a Hong Kong-based solar project developer. We have entered an EPC contract with this project, which is already in the ready-to-build phase and has begun construction.
Investment Highlights
The wholesale electricity market in Australia was liberalized over 20 years ago, and the government has introduced certificates for fossil-free electricity generation since then. There are abundant precedent business cases in Australia, and we believe that our gained experience from these investments can be applied to our future business activity in Japan as well.
Future Actions
We intend to continue investing in similar projects while observing the electricity market and seeking for opportunities to expand our business activities in Australia. There are other potential utility-scale solar power and BESS projects that we may also monitor. Simultaneously, we will be actively investigating projects and investment structures in Australia that would appeal to global investors from a capital recycling perspective.
