Joint investment with Biomass Fuel in a wood pellet manufacturing plant in Vietnam

Biomass Fuel (BF) is our strategic partner in the biomass sector. We support BF's aim to expand the business in the wood pellet industry through capital contribution to Biomass Fuel Vietnam (BFV), a subsidiary of BF in Vietnam.
Investment Highlights
BFV is a newly established company that produces wood pellets in a factory in Nghe An province, Vietnam. The factory’s cutting-edge technology of the factory has a capacity to annually produce 200,000 tons of wood pellets, all of which are manufactured from resources certified to be legitimate, traceable and sustainable. BFV will supply the wood pellets to Japan and to the world to contribute towards sustainable operation of biomass power plants.
Industry Perspectives and Future Actions
As a number of large-scale biomass power plants are expected to be constructed and to start operating in the coming years in Japan, the demand for imported wood pellets here is increasing. In response to discussions over climate change, the conversion of coal plants to biomass plants could also be accelerated around the globe. Through the investment in and cooperation with BFV, we aim to gain insights in the biomass sector and to promote the growth of BF.
