Co-investment in Electricity North West, a power distribution business in the U.K.

All shares of Electricity North West Limited ("ENW"), a power distribution company operating in the Manchester and Cumbria regions of the United Kingdom, have been transferred from J.P. Morgan Asset Management and First State Investment to Equitix Limited, CNIC Corporation Limited, The Kansai Electric Power Company,Incorporated, Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance Company Limited and us, Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure Co. Ltd.

Key Points of the Investment

ENW is a regulated power distribution company that operates exclusively in the Manchester region, where stable cash flow is anticipated due to various regulations enforced by the administrator. Through our involvement in this project, we aim to gain knowledge in regulated businesses in preparation for the separation of power transmission and distribution in Japan.

Industry Perspectives and Future Actions

In the United Kingdom, the shift to EVs is underway, reflecting a growing focus on environmental issues. As the government promotes heat pumps, the demand for electricity is expected to continue growing. We anticipate that the knowledge gained from this investment will support our future involvement in this area both in Japan and overseas, given that similar regulations are often implemented in other countries within the power distribution industry.
