Aiming to further expand our investment in the battery storage sector, we have invested in Exergy Power Systems, Inc. ("Exergy"), a startup from the University of Tokyo.

Investment Highlights

Exergy develops and manufactures a next-generation battery storage system that is low-capacity, high-output and fast-responding. The company utilizes this system to provide ancillary services that manage the volatility of renewable energy power supply. As the share of renewables like solar PV and wind power increases in global electricity generation, the ancillary services market is expected to grow. We believe that Exergy's business will contribute to the growth and adoption of renewable energy.

Future Actions

Through this investment, we will continue our discussions with Exergy on initiatives to introduce next-generation battery storage systems both in Japan and overseas, while also supporting its business expansion by applying the financial expertise of the Daiwa Securities Group.
