Joint venture with Biomass Fuel to build a wood pellet manufacturing plant in Vietnam

This is a joint project with our strategic partner, Biomass Fuel Co., Ltd. ("Biomass Fuel"), to establish a company and construct a wood pellet manufacturing plant in Vietnam.
Investment Highlights
Biomass Fuel Vietnam Co., Ltd. ("Biomass Fuel Vietnam") is the newly established company that produces wood pellets at a factory in Nghe An Province, Vietnam. The factory is equipped with cutting-edge technology that produces 200,000 tons of wood pellets annually, all from resources certified as legitimate, traceable and sustainable. Biomass Fuel Vietnam will supply these wood pellets to Japan and around the world, contributing to the sustainable operation of biomass power plants.
Industry Perspectives and Future Actions
Several large-scale biomass power plants are expected to be constructed and begin operating in Japan in the coming years, leading to an increase in demand for imported wood pellets. In response to climate change discussions, the global conversion of coal plants to biomass plants may also accelerate. Through our investment in and cooperation with Biomass Fuel Vietnam, we aim to gain insights into the biomass sector and support the growth of Biomass Fuel.
